Lahore, Sept 14: A brilliant 51 by captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and intelligent bowling by leg-spinner Shafiq Ahmad (three for 28) helped the Inzamam-ul-Haq Eleven to beat Moin Khan Eleven by eight wickets in a practice match here at the Qadhafi Stadium here on Thursday.
The teams were formed from the probables who are attending the national camp which is in progress at the same venue to finalise Pakistan team for the ICC Knock Out Trophy to be held in Kenya from Oct 4.
Batting first, the Moin Khan Eleven was slumped at a low total of 146 in 41.4 overs. But the coach Javed Miandad decided to give the Moin Khan Eleven extra 20 runs and set the winning target of 167 for the Inzamam-ul-Haq Eleven.
Inzamam-ul-Haq batted offensively and hit four mighty sixes and as many boundaries to achieve the target in 35.4 overs with eight wickets in hand. Wasim Akram, who could not bowl due to groin problem, came in to bat, calling back Faisal Iqbal at 39, which included four boundaries. Inzimam hit three sixes and one four. He faced 36 balls to hit a quick 51.
Openers Younis Khan (36, two fours, one six, off 65 balls) and Imran Nazir (18, three boundaries) were the other main scorers.
Earlier, Shafiq Ahmad bowled nine overs to take three wickets for 28 runs and played important role in dismissing the Moin Khan Eleven for 146 (166) in 41.4 overs. He took three wickets in a row of Moin Khan (5), Waqar Younis (8) and Arshad Khan (4).
Paceman Abdur Razzaq picked up two wickets for 11 in 5.4 overs.
For the Moin Khan Eleven, Imran Abbas was the main scorer with 33 off 73 balls. Openers Saeed Anwar (18) and Salim Elahi (22, two fours) were the other key scorers.
