Colts CC to powerful for Matara SC

Colts CC secured a predictable but nevertheless welcome victory against a weak Matara side in the Premier One Day Tournament at Colts Ground today.

Matara CC, after being put into bat, managed to score only 199 for 9 in their 50 overs. After the top order collapsed they never really able to compile any significant partnerships in the middle order and they lost wickets at regular intervals.

The only batsmen to put up any resistance were Buddika (35), Sameera (30) and Abeysinghe (29). S. Fernando was the pick of the bowlers capturing 3 for 32 in his 10 overs of off-spin. Dinuka Hettiarachchi, Suchita Alexander and Siggra each chipped in with 2 wickets apiece.

Colts batsmen never looked troubled by the Matara S.C. bowling. They overtook the small total with more than 10 overs to spare. C. Mendis scored a patient 53 to guide Colts to victory. He was well supported by Dulip Samarawera (48) and Sajith Fernando (34).
