Countries announced for the inaugural Gulf Cup
All six invited countries - Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the host, the United
Arab Emirates, have confirmed their participation for the inaugural Gulf Cup to be held in Dubai
in January.
The dates for the tournament will be confirmed at a meeting this Sunday, although January 5 is
the most likely option.
With Saudi Arabia now confirmed, the United Arab Emirates will probably field a unified team
after it had been previously proposed that Sharjah and Dubai would enter separately to make an
even number of teams.
A naming rights sponsor and the amount of prize money are also likely to be determined in the
next few days.
As this is the first staging of the event, it is unlikely ICC eligibility rules will apply.
ICC Asia Development Officer, Mr. Nasim Ul Ghani, will attend the tournament.
