Derbyshire have registered another seam bowler after
an injury crisis decimated their pace attack.
The former Sussex player Alex Edwards has joined the
club and is in the squad for tomorrow's National
League match against Middlesex at Derby.
Derbyshire currently have four seamers on the casualty
list while skipper Dominic Cork has been away with
England.
Kevin Dean has suffered a recurrence of a back
problem, Trevor Smith is out with a groin injury, Tom
Lungley is sidelined with a stress fracture of a foot
and Tim Munton is struggling with an Achilles problem.
Cork and Munton are due to be back for next week's
Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy tie against Glamorgan
but Derbyshire's pace reserves are still seriously
depleted.
Edwards, who made his first-class debut for Sussex in
1995, did enough for Derbyshire's second team this
week to persuade the county to register the
25-year-old.
