New Zealand included four uncapped players in their 14-member squad for the ICC Women's World Twenty20 in Bangladesh. Samantha Curtis, Holly Huddleston, Hayley Jensen and Felicity Leydon-Davis are the new names in the squad led by the experienced Suzie Bates. The same squad will also take on West Indies in a limited-overs series at home from February 22.
"Coming out of a series against the West Indies, we'll arrive in Bangladesh with a lot of cricket under our belt and ready to make a run for the trophy" Warren Lees, the New Zealand coach, said. "We have a number of players with experience in sub-continent conditions who have played at big tournaments and we'll need their leadership to help guide some of the younger members of the squad.
"This is a relatively fresh looking squad, but it's certainly not short on talent," she said. "With four uncapped players they'll need a little bit of time to gel, but there are enough old heads in the side to make sure it's a smooth transition."
New Zealand, who reached the semis in the last edition, are placed in Group A along with Australia, Pakistan, Ireland and South Africa. They play their first match against Australia on March 23.
