Michael Clarke announced that he was ending his 11-year career in cricket after the fifth Investec Ashes Test at the Oval. A multiple World Cup winner, a multiple Ashes winner and the captain of the World's best Test team, Clarke has also been the subject of rifts in the Australian dressing room and been persecuted by the Australian public for his rockstar lifestyle in his early years. His recent form had been suspect, and Clarke himself mentioned that Australia were playing the Investec Ashes 2015 with only 10 men. As calls for him stepping down grew louder, Clarke vehemently claimed he will not oblige. Three days later, after the Ashes were lost, he made the official announcement to call time on a career that has not lacked for events
