Punjab's Gagandeep Singh gave Delhi a run for their money in a Ranji
Trophy North Zone league match at the capital's Harbax Singh Stadium.
Singh put up a terrific display of medium pace bowling, bagging six
wickets for 34 runs from his 17 overs.
Delhi chasing a modest total of 187, fizzled out for 104 in 50.2
overs. Singh's efforts gave Punjab the crucial first innings lead of
23 runs in a low scoring match. Gautam Gambhir (21) and Virendra
Sehwag (21) were the only ones to hang around but could not last long
enough.
At close of play, Punjab were 74 for three from 34.1 overs, losing
Ravneet Ricky, Vikram Rathour and Reetinder Sodhi cheaply. Dinesh
Mongia (13) and Pankaj Dharmani (21) returned unbeaten.
