Ganga named Cricketer of the Year

Daren Ganga, the West Indies A captain, has been named the Trinidad and Tobago Cricketer of the Year for the 2004-05 season at the T&T Cricket Board's 49th annual prize-giving ceremony. Ganga, who recently led the A team to Sri Lanka, had a good season in the Carib Beer regional competition, scoring 610 runs at 40.66, including 265 against Leeward Islands. He also performed well in the limited overs series tallying 273.
Denesh Ramdin, the new West Indies wicketkeeper, Lendl Simmons, and allrounders, Richard Kelly and Dwayne Bravo joined Ganga among the TTCB's five Cricketers of the Year. Adrian Bharath, the 15-year-old, collected the junior player award for an outstanding 2004-2005 season in the regional Under-15 tournament. Bharath gathered 429 runs in this year's regional Under-15 series where he was also voted most valuable player. Bharath was joined by Jason Mohammed, the newly appointed T&T Under-19 captain, Magnum Nanan and Rishi Bachan, the left-arm spinners, and Samuel Felix, the opening batsman, as the Youth Cricketers of the Year.
