Hampshire Under 13s on Tour

A squad of 14 Hampshire Under-13 players, accompanied by their families, went on a two-week tour of South Africa.

They were based in Cape Town and played five matches against Langa Township, two Boland teams and two sides from Western Province, winning two games and losing three.

The players were coached and managed by Raj Maru and Alan Rowe from Hampshire CCC's development office.

Raj Maru said: "The conditions were extremely hot and the opposition very strong, but our team played well in every match. The players benefited greatly from this experience."

Credit must be given to the parents of three boys, Peter Jenkins, David Ransley and David Walker, who made the trip possible.

There were 63 people in the party, including brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents, who left Heathrow on Boxing Day and returned to England on January 10.
