Patiala: The Haryana batsman played with cool heads in their second innings
after being obliged to follow on to hold Punjab to a draw in their
North Zone Cooch Behar Trophy match here on Wednesday.
Resuming at 203 for 8 in first innings Haryana were all out for 218.
Amit Uniyal captured both the wickets to fall on Wednesday and got
five wickets for 43 runs. Forced to follow on Haryana lost their first
wicket at 11 when Nishant Goyal (4) was bowled by Gagandeep.
Opener Parveen Sharma (56) and Maninder Singh (61) added 102 runs
for the second wicket before Parveen cut a short ball into the hands
of keeper Sondhi off Yuvraj Singh.
Haryana skipper Satish Olhan who replaced Parveen then took the
responsibility of sustaining the innings. He remained unbeaten with
52. Haryana lost only four wickets while scoring 217 runs when the match
ended. Gagandeep took two wickets for 20 runs, while Sanjay Dhull
and Yuvraj Singh got a wicket each. Punjab got five points and
Haryana three.
