Hong Kong back from the dead

Hong Kong are back in the ACC Trophy 2006 after a receiving an eleventh hour reprieve from the organising committee involving a re-calculation of the net run-rates that resulted in Hong Kong pipping Kuwait by just 0.03 runs.
Everyone had assumed that as Kuwait held the better run-rate before the start of the match against Hong Kong, the tied result would see Kuwait through. However the calculations are based on all matches played and runs scored for and against. The tied result saw the run-rates of both teams drop, but the Kuwaiti team suffered a bigger drop leaving Hong Kong with their noses in front by the slenderest of margins.
Kuwait protested the result, having been declared the winners earlier in the day, but later accepted the ruling by the ACC Trophy 2006 organising committee.
Hong Kong's reprieve now sees them take on Singapore in a quarter-final match-up with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs.
