India has jumped up two places in the LG ICC Test Championship table following its series win against England.
The 1-0 success has earned five rating points for Rahul Dravid's men and lifted them above both South Africa and Sri Lanka. India has the same number of points as the latter side but now stands above it when the ratings are recalculated to three decimal places.
India is now just four points behind second placed England with the home side dropping four points following its first home series loss since the 4-1 reverse against Australia in 2001.
But the consolation for Michael Vaughan and his players is that things could have been worse. If India had managed to force a win in the third Test at The Brit Oval and so secure the series 2-0 it would have left the two sides level on 107 rating points with England retaining second place only by decimal places.
By securing a draw in London it means England still has a cushion from its nearest rivals in the table but the series loss has meant the gap between it and top side Australia has grown from 26 to 30 rating points.
India's series win, secured by virtue of a drawn first Test at Lord's, London and victory in the second match at Trent Bridge, Nottingham by seven wickets, is its first in England since its 2-0 success in the three-match clash of 1986. India's only other success in England was the 1-0 win in 1971.

Note: Zimbabwe has a rating of 12 but has not played a sufficient number of Test matches over the new rating period (since August 2004) to be included on the main table.
