India v Sri Lanka, 2nd Test, Kanpur, 2nd day

25-Nov-2009
The 102 run-partnership between VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh helped India assert their supremacy all through the early half of the day. It was a stroke-filled partnership for the fifth wicket as India closed in on 650 runs, having begun the day on 417 for 2, and losing the wickets of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.
The last four Indian wickets fell for three runs, as Sri Lanka clawed their way back into the match. The chief destroyer was Rangana Herath, who picked up three wickets and his crafty spin smothered any resistance from the Indian tail.
Sri Lanka were off to a horror start during the reply as the first ball from Zaheer Khan had Tillakaratne Dilshan top edging by mistake. Pragyan Ojha running in from mid-on made no mistake, pouching the catch and giving India the perfect start after having amassed 642.
