India v West Indies in India, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the fifth ODI, India v West Indies in India, 2011-12

At Chennai, December 11, 2011 (day/night). India won by 34 runs. Toss: India. One-day international debut: J. N. Mohammed.
Two men scored their maiden international hundreds, but it was Manoj Tiwary who emerged with the broadest smile. In only his sixth one-day match for India, and his first of the series, he powered them to another imposing total before retiring hurt with cramp, the ball after bringing up his century. Tiwary had walked out to face the fourth delivery of the match, with Roach on a hat-trick after a lack of bounce did for Rahane and Patel. Pollard's hundred came after a similarly shaky start, when Pathan - recalled after two and a half years out of favour - and Mithun knocked over the top four. It was a long time in coming for Pollard, who had made a fortune from his clean striking in Twenty20 cricket, but whose international career had yet to take off: this was his 51st one-day match. He smashed ten sixes, and farmed the strike adeptly after Russell departed, but was last man out trying for an eleventh.
Man of the Match: M. K. Tiwary. Man of the Series: R. G. Sharma.
