Kent County Cricket Club today announced that both Alex Loudon and James Tredwell had accepted playing contracts for the 2002 season. Kent has also agreed a development contract with talented bowler Robert Joseph, which confirms his allegiance to Kent and his desire to represent England at the highest level in years to come.
In addition to the departure of Alan Wells, who recently announced his desire to move to a management or coaching role, the Club will not be renewing contracts with Kristian Adams, Paul Lazenbury or Ben Phillips.
All other members of this year's playing staff are either under contract for next season already or have been offered new contracts.
The decision with regard to Kent's overseas player for next season will be made once the international calendar for 2002 is finalised. The Club would, however, like to place on record its appreciation for the role played by Andrew Symonds as its overseas player this year. Symonds joined the team in June after injury forced Daryll Cullinan to relinquish his contract, and was instrumental in Kent's recent victory over Warwickshire which secured the Norwich Union League for the County for the fifth time.
