Jason Krejza will move to Tasmania next month in an effort to increase his opportunities at first-class level. Tasmania have been without a top-of-the-line spinner for some time and Krejza, who has been competing for a place in the New South Wales team with Stuart MacGill, Nathan Hauritz and Beau Casson, could potentially fill that gap.
Krejza, 23, will take up a contract with the Tigers in January, having been released from his New South Wales contract. The offspinner has been a solid performer for the Blues in one-day cricket, with six wickets and a half-century to his name in three games this season.
However, his chances of Pura Cup action appeared slim and he has not broken into the team in 2006-07, though MacGill, Hauritz and Casson have all played. Krejza, who has notched up 13 first-class matches, flights the ball well and Tasmania hope he can strengthen their limited slow-bowling stocks.
"He has made the decision to come to Tasmania with the hope of playing more first-class cricket," the Tasmania cricket operations manager David Boon said. "Jason will add to the depth of young talented cricketers we have within the Tigers squad and throughout our grade system."
