The KSCA Diamond Jubilee All India Invitation knock-out tournament for
the Coromandal Cement Trophy, scheduled to start from August 1, will
now commence from August 2. In fact, the format for the competition
has been changed with matches to be played on a one day basis. When
the draw for the tournament was originally drawn up, the matches were
to be of three days duration and the competition was to be held from
August 1 to 19.
According to a press release from the KSCA on Tuesday, ``in view of
the present disturbances in the city, and due to situations beyond our
control, the schedule has been revised.'' The opening match will now
be played between the National Cricket Academy and India Pistons. The
other first round matches are Andhra CA vs MRF (August 3), Kerala vs
BPL (August 4) and ONGC vs Chemplast (August 5). After a day's break,
KSCA XI play the winner of the NCA-India Pistons game on August 7. On
August 8, the winner of the Andhra CA-MRF match plays Indian Airlines.
India Cements and Hyderabad CA, who have both been drawn directly into
the quarterfinals, will play on August 9. On August 10, the winners of
the Kerala-BPL match plays the winner of the Chemplast-ONGC game.
All matches will be played at the KSCA ground. The dates for the
semifinals and the final will be decided later.
