Lamsam, Kelleher and Gavin-Brown score centuries in latest matches while Hussain Butt grabs six wickets

Roy Lamsam, Damian Kelleher and Nick Gavin-Brown all scored unbeaten centuries in the latest round of Saturday League matches that saw LSW Warriors takes the honours in a top of the table clash against Lamma. In Sunday League action, bowlers took the honours with Hussain Butt claiming six wickets and Don Mohammed and Mark Fuzes grabbing five each.

Pleasant conditions greeted players for round eleven of the 2006-07 HKCA Saturday League played on 2nd December 2006.

In a top of the table clash, LSW Warriors beat Lamma by 43 runs at Po Kong Village Road Number 1 ground. The Warriors batsmen posted a decent 264-5 from their 35 overs with Zain Abbas leading the way with 73 runs while Tabarak Dar (64) and Munir Dar (56) also scored half-centuries. Zain Abbas then claimed four wickets and Tabarak Dar grabbed three as Lamma was restricted to 221-9 in reply. For Lamma, Tauseef Bukhari top scored with 49 while Toby White scored 48. The result leaves both teams tied on the same points at the top of the table but the LSW Warriors hold a two match advantage and an unblemished record.

Across on the PKVR number two ground, third placed Crusaders had a field-day against the CCC bowlers as the racked up an impressive 305-1 from their 35 overs with Roy Lamsam hitting the season's top score of 150 not out while his partner Damian Kelleher smote an unbeaten 120. In reply, CCC posted 206-6 with Stuart Blieschke hitting 74 and Mukhtar Ahmed scoring 65.

At Kowloon Cricket Club, Witherers enjoyed an 8 wicket victory over the struggling Saracens. Batting first, Saracens could only muster 211-8 from their 35 overs with Ravi Sujanani top scoring with 82 while Richard Cauldwell scored 45. Samir Mehta and Adrian Waters claimed three wickets apiece for Witherers. In reply, Witherers had little trouble chasing down the target with Nick Gavin-Brown leading the charge with an unbeaten 113.

Across town at Hong Kong Cricket Club, Nomads enjoyed the biggest victory of the day as they crushed Laguna Gully by 139 runs. Batting first, Nomads posted a whopping 281-8 from their 35 overs with Chris O'Sullivan, Andrew Swan and Richard Young all hitting half centuries while Prashant claimed four wickets. In reply, Laguna Gully was dismisssed for 142 with Mal Costain grabbing four wickets.

St George's enjoyed a comfortable over Kai Tak at Mission Road. With Sajid Khan leading the way with an unbeaten 65 (retired), St George's posted a decent 233-8 from their 35 overs, despite the efforts of Dave Belcastro who claimed three wickets. Vicky Niaz and Ayub Khan grabbed three wickets each for St George's as Kai Tak were dismissed for 147 in reply.

In the last match of the day, Police enjoyed another victory over Mainlanders in a game played at the Police Training College. Mainlanders batted first but could only post a total of 135-9 from their 35 overs with Amarjeet Singh grabbing four wickets. Police then knocked off the required runs for the loss of six wickets, despite the efforts of Sajid Mahmood who picked up three wickets.

Three matches were played in round eleven of the 2006-07 HKCA Sunday League in fine and pleasant conditions on 3rd December 2006.

At Hong Kong Cricket Club Optimists enjoyed a six wicket victory over Sri Lanka Club CC. Batting first, the Sri Lankan team was dismissed for 192 in 40.5 overs with Neel top scoring with 65. For Optimists, Mark Fuzes claimed five wickets while Jeremy Glaros picked up four. In reply, Optimists knocked off the required runs in just 30.3 overs with Mark Eames hitting 68.

Home ground advantage didn't help Templars as they slumped to a two wicket defeat to Millennium CC at Kowloon Cricket Club. Tempars total of 214-9 was helped along by Graeme Jardine who top scored with 63, while Don Mohammed grabbed five wickets. Templars total looked a little light and so it proved as Millennium eased to victory in the 45th over for the loss of eight wickets. Zar Khan was the best of the Millennium CC batsmen, hitting a fine 77.

At Mission Road, Pakistan Association scored a 56-run victory over Vagabonds. Batting first, Pakistan Association were dismissed for 225 in exactly 50 overs with Nasir Hammed top scoring with 66 while Pashant claimed three wickets. Hussain Butt then ran through the Vagabonds batsmen as he picked up six wickets with his medium pace deliveries as Vagabonds were dismissed for 169 in just under 35 overs. Prakash Chakravarti was the best of the Vagabonds batters, scoring 46.

In the latest round of the HKCA Skitz Sports Bar Women's Cricket League, Little Sai Wan enjoyed a 102 run victory over KCC at Po Kong Village Road. Reenu Gill scored 72 not out and Shaminda hit an unbeaten 92 as the LSW women posted in impressive 207-1 off their 35 overs. Shaminda then grabbed three wickets as KCC were restricted to 105-8 in reply. Only Sarah Eames offered any resistance for KCC as she scored 34.
