Lahore, May 22: Former Test captain Salim Malik postponed his hurriedly-called Press conference on Monday afternoon, causing disappointment to a large number of mediamen, who had reached the Lahore Press Club (LPC).
Salim Malik had faxed a message to the media offices saying that he would be addressing a Press conference at the LPC on Monday at 6 pm. It said that Salim Malik would clarify his position regarding the allegations of match-fixing levelled against him and which had appeared in Monday's newspapers.
"I have been stopped by some one from addressing any Press conference. Therefore, I have decided to defer the same till Friday (May 26). However, I swear I am not involved in any such matter", Salim Malik told journalists.
Salim Malik neither gave the name of "some one" nor explained as to what he meant by the word "matter"! When pressed by the journalists to tell them who stopped him from addressing the Press conference, Salim Malik replied: "You know very well!".
At end of his brief encounter with the reporters, Salim Malik said that he would be seeking permission from the higher authorities before addressing the Press conference on Friday.
