The ongoing dispute over the selection of the Pakistan squad for the forthcoming series against New Zealand took another turn when Moin Khan was recalled after what was officially described as a "rethink".
Moin was omitted from the 22-man squad announced by Aamir Sohail, Pakistan's chief selector, last week. But his choices were roundly condemned as it was revealed he had not consulted with Pakistan's coach, Javed Miandad, or Inzamam-ul-Haq, the captain.
"The selectors have reconsidered the inclusion of Moin after a rethink on their part," Ramiz Raja, the Pakistan Cricket Board's chief executive, told reporters. "They felt it would be better to have two wicketkeepers in the training camp for New Zealand."
The announcement represents a public, but unofficial, rebuke for Sohail.
Revised Pakistan squad Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Imran Farhat, Salman Butt, Saleem Elahi, Taufeeq Umar, Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhana, Asim Kamal, Misbah-ul-Haq, Bilal Asad, Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Umar Gul, Shabbir Ahmed, Abdul Rauf, Mohammad Irshad, Fahad Masood, Kamran Akmal (wk), Danish Kaneria, Moin Khan (wk).
