After a string of alternating wins and losses, England broke serve at last to seal their second 2-1 victory of the tour, and their first one-day series win in New Zealand since 1991-92. Finn and Anderson were again central, with Finn especially impressive off his economical new 12-stride approach, designed to curb his costly habit of bashing into the stumps. Two days earlier, MCC had announced that any future transgression would be called a no-ball, and not - as previously - a dead ball; the new regulation would take effect from the start of May in internationals. McCullum did his manful best again, thrashing five sixes in 68 balls, but even he could not conjure up a competitive total once Taylor had got the wrong end of a DRS verdict. England's reply was never discomfitted, despite the absence of an individual half-century, and Morgan's flourish - 39 from 24 balls - secured a series triumph with more than 12 overs to spare.
