New Zealand v Zimbabwe, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, New Zealand v Zimbabwe, 2011-12

Andrew Alderson
15-Apr-2013
At Hamilton, February 14 (floodlit). Second Twenty20 international: New Zealand won by five wickets. Zimbabwe 200-2 (20 overs) (H. Masakadza 62, S. Matsikenyeri 32, B. R. M. Taylor 75*); New Zealand 202-5 (19.4 overs) (R. J. Nicol 56, J. E. C. Franklin 60, B. B. McCullum 38). Twenty20 international debut: A. M. Ellis (New Zealand).
In easily the closest match of the tour, New Zealand needed 21 off nine balls after losing the McCullum brothers to consecutive deliveries in the 19th over. But Williamson carved 20 from five (42464) to ensure a clean sweep of the international matches. Earlier, in their best batting effort of the trip, Zimbabwe reached 200 for the first time in a Twenty20 international as Taylor and Hamilton Masakadza took advantage of a well-paced pitch and short boundaries. But although Guptill was rested, they were matched by New Zealand's openers Nicol and James Franklin.
Man of the Match: J. E. C. Franklin.
