The second day's play in the four-day one-off Test between South Africa and the Netherlands was washed out in Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam on Sunday after overnight rain left the field unfit for play.
The two umpires Stephen Tovey and Imteborg Bevers made a series of inspections before deciding to call off the day's play after lunch.
The weather forecast for Monday is good and both South Africa and the Netherlands are hoping to spend some useful time in the middle. It is South Africa's first Test since August 2003 while for the Netherlands, it is a debut Test which makes it the 10th country to play a women's Test.
On Saturday, 31.4 overs of play was lost because of rain. When play ended on the first day, South Africa, put into bat, had reached 159-5 in 58.2 overs with opener Daleen Terblanche batting on 60. She has occupied the crease for 195 minutes during which time she has received 147 balls. Her innings include two boundaries.
The one-off Test will be followed by three ODIs in Amstelveen, Utrecht and Deventer on 2, 4 and 5 August respectively, and the matches form a key part of the teams' preparations for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Lahore in November.
That event, which will also involve Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland and Zimbabwe, will see the top two line-ups qualify for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, set to take place in Australia in 2009.
