Pakistan v Bangladesh
Utpal Shuvro
15-Apr-2004
At Lahore, September 15, 2003 (day/night). Pakistan won by 42 runs (D/L method). Toss: Pakistan.
It was hard luck for Bangladesh when one of the Gaddafi Stadium's six floodlight towers broke
down, making their run-chase much more difficult. Because they had lost two early wickets to
the hostile and accurate Umar Gul, a tricky 258 in 50 overs was revised to an improbable 244 in
44. Although Hannan Sarkar and Alok Kapali put on 95 they were really just batting out time.
Sarkar was given run out on 36, and was halfway to the pavilion when called back: TV replays
showed Shoaib Malik had touched the rope while throwing in from the cover boundary. Earlier,
Yousuf Youhana made 65 after being let off three times in the 30s. In Pakistan's penultimate over,
Tapash Baisya took three wickets - but by then it was too late.
Man of the Match: Umar Gul.
