†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1983-84

At Adelaide, January 28

15-Apr-1985
At Adelaide, January 28. West Indies won by one wicket. In one of the most exciting finishes of the series, West Indies won with five balls to spare. When West Indies, needing 178, were 92 for seven, Pakistan's hopes were high of repeating their victory, achieved in another low-scoring game with West Indies at the Adelaide Oval, two seasons before. But Marshall followed some impressive fast bowling with an admirable combination of resolution and aggression, sharing partnerships of 53 with Baptiste, 14 with Holding and 21 with Daniel to bring West Indies a thrilling win. Pakistan had made a sound start before Marshall threw their injury-weakened side into disarray. Wasim Raja, who had been overlooked for the first six games of the series, batted with sensible aggression and took three wickets with a combination of medium-pace and leg-spin.
Man of the Match: M. D. Marshall. Attendance: 13,101.
