PCB clarifies on, alleged Logo money dispute - Wasim Akram fine - advertisement contract dispute

Recently various newspaper reports have given an impression that there is a dispute between the management and the players on logo money and somehow or the other it has been conveyed through the press that the players have been denied the actual sum to accommodate the coach of the Pakistan team.

PCB verifies that the logo money distribution has been done exactly according to the contract between the PCB and the coach and between the Players and the PCB. Rightful share has been given to the players as well as the coach.

PCB received a letter from the solicitor of Mr. Wasim Akram in which his client has objected to the deduction of fine as recommended in the Justice Qayyum report on betting, gambling and match fixing.

PCB duly considered the letter and reiterates that PCB's action has been lawful as Mr. Wasim Akram was given ample time to either deposit the fine as recommended or to take a legal course. He didn't respond on time and the fine was deducted from his cricketing remunerations.

PCB stands by its decision.

PCB maintains that some confusion has erupted after the players signed an advertisement contract with Coca Cola. PCB's main contract is with Pepsi and no direct competitor can share their place. The PCB Management stands by its agreements. Hopefully the matter will be amicably resolved between the players and the companies soon. Perhaps the players signed the advertisement contract with Coca Cola on account of inadequate understanding of corporate contractual matters.
