Lahore, May 28:Lt Gen Tauqir Zia said the PCB could not help any
player who was facing life ban or cash penalties. All the effected
cricketers were free to go to the higher courts or authorities if they
felt aggrieved by the recommendations, he said.
When asked that had he not assured Salim Malik of PCB help on the day
when the report was announced, the PCB chief said that the board would
only provide possible assistance to Malik if he sued "News of the
World" which published a story involving him in match-fixing scandal.
He said that Pakistan would not cancel the Sri Lankan tour, starting
next month, despite that country's political atmosphere. He said that
in future Pakistan would accept only those series which had five Tests
or as many one-dayers. However, current agreements would be honoured,
he concluded.
