With a timely intervention by PCB to stem local confusion and controversy two member committee was nominated by PCB to hold trials and select players at Vehari to represent their team in the PCB Trophy.
Consequently, the committee, consisting of former test players Shafiq Ahmed (papa) and Azhar Khan, conducted trials at Vehari on January 28, 2003, and picked up a squad of 20 players to represent Vehari in the PCB Trophy. Conducting of trials by an impartial body has been widely appreciated locally in Vehari to remove the controversy and strife prevailing in the local cricket. This was the result of infighting within rival factions of Vehari District Cricket Association, who had earlier held parallel trials to select players.
Following are the names of the selected players:-
Batsmen:-
Mohammad Adnan, Abbas Ali, Mohsin Sharif, Asad Ali Younis, Khurram Shahzad, Wasim Majeed (Vice Captain), Sajid Ali, Mohammad Imran, Naveed Mushtaq
Fast Bowler:-
Mohammad Azhar Ullah, Khalid Nasim, Nadeem Iqbal (Captain), Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Imran Gulzar, Abdul Ghaffar
Spinners:-
Abdul Qadir, Asif Mahmood, Faisal Rasheed
Wicket Keepers:-
