The UCBSA is pleased to release the itinerary of the first full South
African tour of the West Indies since our re-admission into international
cricket. During their tour early next year, South Africa and the West Indies
will play five Tests and seven One-Day Internationals.
In the African context, a tour to the West Indies is very significant. We in
South Africa have great admiration and enormous respect for the West Indies,
who have maintained their consistently high position in world cricket over
many decades. Their flair, their style of play and their innovation make
them unique and they have always been one of the most attractive teams to
watch. As opponents they are fearsome and they will be looking to avenge
their defeat in South Africa in 1998/9.
The UCB has a very good relationship with the West Indies Cricket Board and
we are confident that this tour will further strengthen our close ties.
