5.05pm - Other stumps updates In Delhi, Sevrices have lost two wickets just before stumps, which means Jharkhand aren't completely out of it. Services effectively 96 for 2

In Goa, Assam have reached 134 for 1, a good start on the long journey to three points, which will give them a good chance to qualify, but will leave them depending on other results.

In Mumbai, Mumbai are through to quarters bar the shouting. Sums up Amol Karhadkar: "Mumbai end the day at 323 for 5. They have scored 299 for 4 today, courtesy a trademark Wasim Jaffer hundred. And they would be pretty happy with it"

The two other Maharashtra teams, though, losing one wicket each after conceding 500-plus to Delhi and Karnataka.

4.52pm - Rajasthan close to avoiding relegation They have taken five Hyderabad wickets to reduce them to 160 for 5 from 91 for 0 at one stage. The team that concedes the lead here gets relegated

Stuart Binny has followed up his 168 with the wicket of Maharashtra opener Prayag Bhati. Maharashtra 48 for 1

4.50pm - Stumps in Rajkot Saurashtra end a superb day for them at 18 for 1, a lead of 125. They needed an outright win to qualify, and they look good for one

In Cudappah, heavy rain stopped the game in the afternoon and allowed no more. Kerala 55 for 2 in response to Andhra's 329

Railways 20 for 0, a lead of 77, but even a win might not be enough for them if Saurashtra win their match or even if MP win it. For Railways, they have to win their match and hope for a draw in Rajkot

4.42pm - Finally wickets stop falling in Cuttack... ... that's because it is stumps there. Odisha 53 for 4, chasing 145. We have had 34 wickets in six sessions, and I suspect this match won't see an eighth session. Goving Podder - 24 not out - holds the key

4.40pm - Some late drama in Mumbai Amol Karhadkar reports two quick wickets: "The debutant doesn't last long. In fact, he faces the agony of being dismissed for a duck. Nikhil Patil lobs Kalaria straight into the mid-wicket's hands. Mumbai 312 for 5. Do we have a match on our hands here?"

4.30pm - Jaffer gets life he doesn't make use of Reports Amol Karhadkar: "Jaffer gets a life on 171. Chirag Gandhi drops him at covers off Rush Kalaria. And the next ball, Samit Gohel takes a brliliant catch to ensure they don't have to pay for the chance. Jaffer gone for 171, Mumbai 308 for 4. In walks debutant Nikhil Patil"

4.25pm - Wickets go down, down, down But it's left-arm spinner Ali Murtaza who has taken the fourth. Odisha 46 for 4, chasing 145. Imtiaz Ahmed has three

4.15pm - Assam start well Assam have begun really well in their chase of Goa's 381 for a first-innings lead. They have reached 100 without any loss. Considering Services win their match, Assam need to take the lead here and hope that Andhra either doesn't get a lead or their match is washed out (it's raining there, by the way)

4.10pm - Imtiaz Ahmed keeps striking In Cuttak, Imtiaz Ahmed has run through the Odisha top three. They are 25 for 3. Need another 120 to win. That's a long way to go. Imtiaz: 6-3-4-3

4pm - Services get big lead too Group C leaders have bowled Jharkhand out for 120 in Delhi. Saurabh Tiwary, who had retired-hurt, came out to bat, but could manage only 29. That's a handy lead of 65 for Services

3.57pm - Bengal bowled out Bengal have been bowled out for the same score of 157. They trail by 57. Railways have done well today

3.55pm - Gujarat finally get a wicket Says Amol Karhadkar: "Gujarat strike out of the blue. Hiken Shah tries to cut Samit Gohel, misses it and the ball strikes into the off-stump. Shah made 82. New ball taken after 82 overs. Rush Kalaria marks his run-up after having a look at the scoreboard. Mumbai 292 for 3. Jaffer on 162 and Suryakumar Yadav on 7"

3.50pm - Siddarth Ravindran has just had a statgasm CM Gautam's 264 not out is the third-highest first-class score for Karnataka. Also the second-highest score by a wicketkeeper in Ranji Trophy. All of the top three on that list have come this year. Sagar Jogiyani's near-triple and two of these by Gautam

3.45pm - Railways near a lead Bengal are struggling at 157 for 9. Still trailing by 57. Railways need to win outright to give themselves a chance, but even if they do they need a draw in Rajkot, which might not happen.

Jaffer and Shah have added 200 runs for the third wicket now. In 352 balls, 248 minutes. Gujarat are desperately waiting for the new ball to be available. They have to wait for another four overs. Mumbai 264 for 2

3.25pm - Gautam gets personal best CM Gautam eclipses his personal best of 257, which he set two matches ago. He is now 262 not out out of Karnataka's 569 got 7 in Pune

3.15pm - Mumbai take lead Says Amol Karhadkar: "Seventh ball after tea, Wasim Jaffer drives Rujul Bhatt through mid-on for a boundary and Mumbai overhaul Gujarat's first innings total"

And from my experience of watching first-class cricket in India, don't expect a declaration from Mumbai. They will bat and bat and bat, and go through to the quarters. They have MP to thank. Had MP settled for a draw in the previous game, Mumbai would have been made to do all the running here

And Amol adds: "Jaffer pulls Ishwar Choudhary for a four, his 20th, to raise his 150. And it seems that he just cannot get out. 151 not out, Mumbai 259 for 2"

3.10pm - Yadav tightens hold Suraj Yadav has now taken six wickets for Services. Jharkhand are 104 for 7, with Tiwary retired-hurt. Services still need by 81

3.05pm - Heavy rain in Cuddapah The game between Andhra and Kerala is held up by heavy rain. This could be stumps, but it hasn't officially been called off for the day. Kerala 55 for 2

3pm - Thirty in Cuttack We are barely into the sixth session, and 30 wickets have fallen. UP bowled out for 111. Basanth Mohanty has 4 for 31. Odisha chasing 145, which is 18 more than they managed in their first innings

2.55pm - Back to east Railways keep striking in Bengal. Krishnakant Upadhyay has got rid of Debabrata Das. Bengal 124 for 6. Trail by 90

Mumbai looking strong in Mumbai, Saurashtra have a tight grip on MP in Rajkot.

Says Abhishek Purohit: "Saurashtra bossing this with MP on 123 for 7 in 51 overs. The difference has been in the quality of the spinners, as was expected. Saurashtra's have bowled a fuller length, drawn the batsmen forward, put more effort and flight on the deliveries, and found more bounce, though there's not been a lot of turn. MP's spinners were content with cutting down the runs, allowing Saurashtra to recover from 94 for 5"

At 90 for 0, Hyderabad have replied solidly to Rajasthan's 384 in the contest to avoid relegation

Jharkhand have lost another just before tea. They are 90 for 5, with Tiwary retired-hurt. Suraj Yadav has taken four for Services. It's a match of the Yadavs

In Chennai, Yuzvendra Chahal has taken two wickets in Tamil Nadu's 158 for 3

2.38pm - Jharkhand in trouble In Delhi, Jharkhand seem in deep trouble. Not only are they four down for 89, Saurabh Tiwary has retired-hurt after hurting his leg while running between the wickets

2.35pm - Collapse in Rajkot Saurashtra spinners strike in a cluster. MP lose three wickets for 9 runs, and are 122 for 7 now. Says Abhishek Purohit: "Jadeja, who bowls with a nice pivot, finds enough turn to have Choudhury and Birla caught at slip. And then Harpreet Singh steers Kamlesh Makvana to slip."

2.25pm - Delhi lose both set batsmen Both Vaibhav Rawal and Rajat Bhatia gone. Delhi 421 for 7 now. This is a flat pitch, and they will look for at least 500

2.20pm - Saurashtra tighten the noose Debutant Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (what a name) has got Satyam Choudhury. MP 119 for 5 now. However, this match will remain open even if Saurashtra get the lead. Because the hosts need an outright win, there will be a sporting declaration made

In Mumbai, though, Gujarat seem to be resigned to fate. Says Amol Karhadkar: "Having overbowled all three seamers and the specialist left-arm spinner having little impact, Parthiv Patel has turned to part-timers Bhargav Merai and Rujul Bhatt Mumbai need 29 more runs to secure the first-innings lead"

2.15pm - Tea in Cuttack and Kolkata More more wicket has fallen since the last update from Cuttack. It's Eklavya Dwivedi, who is run out. UP 98 for 7, a lead of 131. Twenty-seven wickets have fallen in five sessions there

Bengal go into tea at 112 for 5, behind Railways by 102. Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Deababrata Das, two specialists batsmen, still at the wicket

2.10pm - Hudred for Delhi's Vaibhav Rawal The 21-year-old now has two centuries in five first-class matches. Rajat Bhatia is unbeaten on 68. They have taken Delhi 414 for 5 on a flat Nagpur pitch

2.08pm - And more wickets in Cuttack Odisha have one more, and they are staying alive. UP 94 for 6. A lead of 127. That's how much Odisha managed in the first innings. And now we have 26 wickets in less than five sessions

2.05pm - Railways show character too They have got the big wicket of Wriddhiman Saha, and reduced Bengal to 105 for 5. They began the game needing an outright win to stay alive, and they might be on track for that

2pm - Abhishek Purohit thinks Mumbai has character Already missing Mumbai, Purohit protests. He says Mumbai has character, Navi Mumbai doesn't. Perhaps he is missing the crowded trains and the smell of the underarms when going to work

Anyway, Mumbai the team has shown character, and are 205 for 2, almost certain now to make the quarters. I don't see them declaring this innings closed. They will grind Gujarat for as long as they can

1.40pm - Double for Gautam CM Gautam has reached his double-century, his second in three matches, and is also the leading run-getter in Ranji Trophy this season. More than 850 runs for him. Karnataka need an innings win here to give him a chance to add to that tally. Karnataka 453 for 5

1.35pm - P Vijay Kumar carries batting form into bowling He added valuable runs along with Amol Muzumdar, and has now removed Hegde and Fernandez with the new ball. Kerala 26 for 2

1.16pm - Finally, a wicket for Maharashtra Stuart Binny falls in Pune. Fifteen short of his best of 187, but his 340-run fifth-wicket stand with CM Gautam is a fifth-wicket record for Karnataka, overtaking the previous 336

1pm - Unadkat hurts MP Jaydev Unadkat's figures: 8-5-7-3. He has taken out three MP wickets, including Jalaj Saxena and captain Devendra Bundela. MP struggling at 57 for 3

12.50pm - Third wicket for Railways Exciting match in Kolkata. Krishnakant Upadhyaya gets his second, Bengal now 75 for 3, replying to Railways' 214

12.45pm - Andhra bowled out Amol Muzumdar's fantastic 146 has carried Andhra to 329. He added 42 with the last man P Vijay Kumar. Andhra are second on the table, and this is a decent platform for them after being put in. Muzumdar now has 841 runs this season, with five centuries

@Siddharth, u said gautam needs 7 more to become the highest scorer, but Amol also needs 7 more, so not only does gautam need 7 more but he also needs to score more than whatever Amol scores from here.

Srinivas Bharath, Amol has only the last man for company, so Gautam has a better chance here. However, Karnataka are not likely to make it to quarters, but Jiwanjot Singh will be there. Amol Muzumdar looks good to make it too

12.05pm - Other lunch updates MP are 48 for 2 against Saurashtra. A semblance of a partnership between Naman Ojha and Devendra Bundela. Abhishek Purohit already senses a bit of panic among Saurashtra: "MP seemed to have weathered the initial burst from Saurashtra, who have gone onto put a sweeper cover, long off and long on for Ojha against the debutant Jadeja. They need an outright win this game, they are not going to get it with that field"

In Pune, Karnataka have gone through another session without losing a wicket, the partnership between Gautam and Binny having reached 316, 20 short of the state record for the fifth wicket. Gautam is unbeaten on 183, seven behind the season's leading run-getter. Binny has reached 158. Karnakata 407 for 4.

11.55pm - Ashish reddy gets five Approaching lunch, Ashish Reddy has taken the last two Rajasthan wickets to dismiss them for 384 in the relegation contest. Ashish will be on a hat-trick in the second innings

Meanwhile, in flat Nagpur, Delhi have made progress to 349 for 5

And Services have taken another wicket. Jharkhand are now 44 for 3, trailing by 141. Interesting days ahead

Mumbai go into lunch at 146 for 2, almost sure of taking a big lead and moving to quarters

11.50am - Muzumdar carries on Amol Muzumdar is not happy with just the hundred. Batting with the No. 11, P Vijay Kumar, he has reached 137. They have added 28 for the last wicket. Andhra 315 for 9

11.45am - Keen contest in capital An edgy match goes on in Delhi where Jharkhand are 38 for 2 responding to Services' 185. Both these teams have a chance of making it to quarters, and this looks like a result pitch, except that the fog has been slowing proceedings a little.

11.40am - Don't bounce Bundela unless you are Zaheer Says Abhishek Purohit from Rajkot, where Saurashtra are going after the big wickets of Ojha and Bundela:

Bundela, who was peppered by short balls in MP's thriller against Mumbai by Zaheer Khan, was attacked the same way by Unadkat, with a fine leg, square leg and backward shortish leg in place. He's responded with a clip to the deep midwicket rope. Spin comes on in the 13th over. Kamlesh Makvana to bowl. MP 23 for 2

And this from Amol Karhadkar in Mumbai: "Jaffer has overtaken his previous best of the season, 80. Can his convert his fifth fifty of the season into his first hundred?"

11.35am - Intensity up in Rajkot Reports Abhishek Purohit: "Unadkat has started his sixth over, from round the stumps, then switches to over the wicket, testing the batsmen all the time. MP dressing room doing everything to keep the spirits up, "good call, good call" they shout as Bundela sends Ojha back after pushing one to mid on. MP 19 for 2."

11.30am - Eastside lunch In Kolkata, Railways have kept Bengal on a tight leash, and have taken two wickets too. Bengal 60 for 2 after 32 overs.

The crazy match in Cuttack continues. UP have lost their openers already for 25. That's 22 wickets in four sessions

11.20am - Amol Karhadkar in Mumbai

And Wasim Jaffer's marching on. He dances down the wicket off Dhurv and hoicks it over long-on for a six to raise Mumbai's hundred. Two balls later, he clears mid-on for a four. And the next one pulled through midwicket for another. Fifteen runs off the over. Mumbai 113 for 2. Jaffer on 69

11.15am - Gautam gets 150 CM Gautam continues to go strong. He has reached an unbeaten 164 against Maharashtra, and Stuart Binny is not far behind, with 141.

Gautam is not the second-highest run-getter this season, and is only 26 behind the leader, another wicketkeeper-batsman, Parthiv Patel. When/if he reaches 191, he will be the leading scorer this season

11.12am - Unadkar strikes again Jaydev Unadkar has bowled Rameez Khan too. MP now 11 for 2. This is going wrong for them. Saurashtra loving it.

Says Abhishek Purohit: "Uandkat working up serious pace now. Takes out Rameez Khan's off stump, which has to be replaced. Greets Bundela with a short ball, which rises to the throat. Would have taken a lot of effort on this slow pitch. Next one is pitched up, takes the edge, but falls short of the cordon."

11.05am - Fifty for Jaffer Wasim Jaffer completes his fifty with a brace off Rakesh Dhurv. Mumbai 94 for 2

11.02am - Unadkat strikes early Jaydev Unadkat scored important lower-order runs, and has now taken out Jalaj Saxena. Reports Abhishek Purohit: "Saxena tried to crash Unadkat twice through the off side, and was beaten both times. Naman Ojha walked up to him, and Jalaj left a couple alone, but then tried to awkwardly hook a short ball. Easy catch to square leg. Unadkat bowling with fine pace and rhythm, generating bounce. Mp captain Bundela not looking pleased at all with what Jalaj did." MP 10 for 1 now

10.53am - And it has resumed in Cuttack Basanth Mohanty resumes Mukul Dagar. UP 5 for 1, a lead of 38 now. Twenty-one wickets have fallen in less than four sessions

10.50am - Off to relegation contest Ashish Reddy has taken two wickets this morning, including the big one of Rashmi Parida. This is shaping up to be a tight fight for the first-innings lead. Rajasthan 326 for 8

Deepak Chahar, who has been in and out this season, is playing his third first-class match of the season

10.48am - Bengal cautious Early in the morning in Kolkata, Bengal have begun very cautiously against Railways, who are after an outright win. Responding to 214, Bengal are 27 for 1 after 22 overs.

10.45am - The Gautam-Binny show continues CM Gautam and Stuart Binny, who scored centuries yesterday, are carrying on in Pune. Their fifth-wicket partnership is now 243. Karnataka 334 for 4. Gautam 139 not out, Binny 121 not out. The Karnataka record for the highest fifth-wicket partnership is 336

10.35am - Amol Karhadkar in Mumbai

Wasim Jaffer, meanwhile, continues his spree of boundaries. He flicks Kalaria through mid-wicket for his eighth, and seventh of the morning session, boundary. Jaffer on 43, Mumbai 81 for 2. The official scorer adds: "Jaffer has scored 37 runs off 39 balls today"
