Two results today, with Baroda taking all seven points against Odisha, and Jammu & Kashmir getting their second victory in two matches, by beating Kerala in Malappuram. How many more results will we see tomorrow? Railways and Bengal are in a tight spots, Delhi are shaky having lost three before stump and Haryana have already had some eventful final days. Kanishkaa signs off with:

"At stumps, Delhi end on a rocky 40 for 3, needing what seems an improbable 370 more on the final day. Karnataka drove home he advantage by stretching their lead past 400. Fine effort by Binny, Pandey and the lower order. Their seamers ran in with purpose and picked up three. Tough ask for Delhi."

It's stumps at the Wankhede stadium as well, where Mumbai had finished the day on 364 for 3, thanks to Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 163.

3.55pm Bengal lose two early

Saurashtra have set Bengal a massive target of 431, chasing which Bengal have already lost the wickets of Arindam Das and Debabrata Das. Wriddhiman Saha and Rohan Bannerjee batting now.

3.50pm Gujarat take lead

Parthiv misses his century, falling for 92, with Gujarat still needing six runs, but the final-wicket pair stick around to pretty much guarantee three points for Gujarat. Rajasthan will likely have to be satisified with one point from this match.

3.45 Declaration at Chinnaswamy

The K man says: "Karnataka have declared at 475 for 9, so Delhi will be chasing 410."

3.40pm Parthiv doing the job for Gujarat

Parthiv Patel is unbeaten on 90 and his 40-run ninth wicket stand has taken Gujarat within seven runs of the first-innings lead against Rajasthan.

3.20pmGreat days for J&K cricket

There has been an upheaval in the team, but that hasn't stopped Jammu & Kashmir from winning back to back matches, this time a 74-run victory over Kerala which lifts them to 13 points and fifth place. The last time J&K won two games in a season was way back in 2000-01. The spinners took all ten Kerala wickets to fall in the second innings, with offspinner Parvez Rassol taking five, and legspinner Manik Gupta the rest.

3.00pm Saurashtra on top despite Saxena

Iresh Saxena, the Bengal left-arm spinner, has taken six wickets in the second innings, and 11 in the match, but that hasn't been enough to stop Saurashtra's lead from ballooning beyond 400. The star for Saurashtra today has been Sheldon Jackson, who has made his maiden first-class century.

2.50pm MP take big lead over Railways

Madhya Pradesh have a 163-run first-innings lead over Railways, and have decided to ~~bat again~~ enforce the follow-on.

2.40pm Century for Rohit Sharma

Another reminder how good Rohit Sharma is at first-class cricket, and why his average is nearly 60. That's first-class century No. 14 for him, and Mumbai are now 266 for 3. Should Rohit have been picked for the Test squad or do his limited-overs failures rule him out?

2.35pm Nail-biting stuff at Ahmedabad

In a match which is likely to be decided on the first-innings lead, Parthiv Patel is hanging on as he tries to get Gujarat past Rajasthan's 294. Gujarat are now 268 for 8, still 25 away. Rajasthan's innings was held together by their captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar. Can Parthiv outdo him?

2.30pm Comic relief at Chinnaswamy

The K man says:

"Comedy of errors from the man of the moment, Nehra. Misfields at mid-off, then languidly chases the ball and throws blind at the bowler’s end. Rather, he threw the ball towards midwicket and the batsmen pick up an overthrow. Delhi seem to have switched off."

2.15pm Baroda take seven points

They had a target of 4 after bowling out Odisha for 123, and they didn't need to score any of those off the bat as four byes in the first over gives them a seven-point victory. That lifts them to 20 points, provisionally in the lead. Odisha, flying high with two wins this season, slip from their second place, but only as far as third. Delhi have a chance of catching them, if they chase down a tall target against Karnataka. Odisha now have two wins, two losses and two draws in the season.

2.10pm Kerala floundering

They have lost half their side for 84, and are still 119 runs away from beating J&K. Parvez Rassol, who was so instrumental in their win over Assam last week, has taken three wickets

1.50pm Some cheer for Haryana

They have dismissed both the centurions, Sangram Atitkar and Kedar Jadhav. Atitkar falls for 190 and Jadhav's stay ends on 109. Not too much to celebrate though as Maharashtra are already ahead by 239 runs.

1.40pm Another one for Delhi

Kanishkaa describes Binny's dismissal.

Relief for Delhi as Stuart Binny walks back for 85. Nice field placement. Unmukt Chand was placed wide at second slip, Bhatia pitched it up and Binny spooned a drive straight to Chand who took a low catch. Binny deserved a century. Positive knock comes to an end. 1.15pm Another fifty for Parthiv Patel

The man just can't stop scoring. His first-class scores this season are: 51,162, 80, 56, 61, 12, 55, 65, 111 and now 51*. We'll given him a homepage headline when he fails to make a fifty. Gujarat are 214/6, 80 behind Rajasthan.

1.05pm Fifty for Manish Pandey

Kanishkaa:

"With a slogged six over deep midwicket, Manish Pandey brings up his fifty, off 94 balls. Delhi going on the defensive. Five in the deep."

That's his third half-century in what has been a lean season so far.

12.55pm Karnataka fighting back

"Binny chips down the track and lofts over extra cover to bring up the century stand with Pandey. The lead has also passed 200. Advantage Karnataka"

12.50pm First-innings tussle at Ahmedabad

Rajasthan have dismissed the prolific Manprit Juneja, who has three centuries in his previous four matches, for a duck, caught-behind off Rituraj Singh. Gujarat are still 103 behind Rajasthan's first-innings score of 294, and have lost five wickets. All down to Parthiv Patel, who has failed to reach 50 only once in his previous nine first-class innings.

12.45pm More Kaif love

I doubt Mohammad Kaif is as popular anywhere else as he is on this forum. Here's our reader Sahir with the latest installment of Kaif praise. "Kaif is making some serious point by piling up runs in this season.Why don't selectors don't just consider him!! He is a senior player and would have been appropriate replacement for yuvi's place in the team."

12.35pm Maharashtra lead swells

Sangram Atitkar is now unbeaten on 174, and Kedar Jadhav is on 74 to stretch the lead over Haryana to 178. Maharashtra are currently joint bottom of the table of Group B, with only five points in four matches.

12.20pm Odisha sliding towards defeat

Baroda have taken five early Odisha wickets, and one of the Odisha batsmen is retired hurt. Biplab Samantray played a crucial knock in the second-innings in the win over Karnataka, and he'll have to step up once more if Odisha are to avoid defeat here. They are trailing Baroda by 64 runs.

12.10pm Harbhajan strikes

Harbhajan Singh gives Punjab the breakthrough they were searching for. He dismissed Kaustubh Pawar for 78, and now has figures of 10.2-0-22-1.

Here's Kanishkaa with the lunch update from Chinnaswamy:

At lunch in Bangalore Karnataka have recovered well to 257 for 4 leading by 191 runs with the fifth-wicket pair of Binny and Pandey intact. They have added 90 runs in 146 balls. That’s twin fifties for Binny. Five wickets fell in the first session of the first two days, while today the count was four. Karnataka have done marginally better. Delhi might start to get worried when the lead passes 250. Pandey 36 (79b), five fours. Binny 51 (72b) four fours and three sixes.

11.50am Half-century for Rohit Sharma

Mumbai have moved along to 187 for 2, with Kaustubh Pawar unbeaten on 77 and Rohit Sharma on 51. Mumbai fighting, but they still have a long way to go to reach Punjab's 580.

The picturesque stadium at Dharamsala is where Himachal Pradesh play several of their Ranji matches. Harsha Bhogle has picked it as his favourite ground. It will host its first ODI next month, when India take on England on 23rd January. Here's what Bhogle has to say on Dharamsala.

A couple of years ago I flew in a small plane through the mountains to land at a quaint airfield (it wasn't an airport, if you know what I mean), drove on roads that went up and down according to the terrain, and encountered hill people who smiled and offered local food at prices that were a pleasant shock. The ground itself had me stunned. I saw the pavilion first, a blazing red pagoda, and then I turned around and saw the mountains; not hills, mountains.

The rays of the sun glistened off the snow on the peaks, and the sunset was a cinematographer's delight. Often I found myself looking at the mountains rather than at the cricket, and more than one evening was spent in an open-air restaurant with simple tables and chairs and eager waiters.

They are now 152 for 8, and are staring at a huge first-innings deficit against Madhya Pradesh. MP medium-pacer Ishwar Pandey now has four five-wicket hauls in five innings.

11.25am Kerala slice through J&K

Jammu & Kashmire began the day at 68 for 3 and have now slid to 141 for 9. Their No. 11 Mohammed Mudhasir is unbeaten on 18 off four balls, having hit three of them for six.

11.15am Odisha in trouble

Odisha are 15 for 2, still 115 behind Baroda, and one of their batsman Niranjan Behera has retired hurt.

11.00am Rahane falls for 31

Big blow for Mumbai as Ajinkya Rahane is dismissed early. Punjab 's batsmen had piled up a massive 580, and Mumbai needed their big guns to fire, if they were to have a chance of getting the first-innings lead at Wankhede. Rohit Sharma is now in the middle, with Kaustubh Pawar who is on an unbeaten 61.

10.50am Bad light in Guwahati

No play yet in Guwahati in the match between Assam and Himachal due to bad light. Play will only start after lunch.

10.35am Baroda lower-order collapses
Odisha have taken the final four wickets for just 11 runs, which means Baroda's lead has been limited to 120 runs. Baroda would have begun the day eying a much larger advantage, but the lower order lasted only 8.1 overs on the day as Deepak Behera finished with his first five-for.

10.30am No more fireworks from Jadeja

He has been dismissed for 68, adding just one run to his overnight score. Bengal spinner Iresh Saxena has taken his fourth in the innings, making it nine in the match, with Saurashtra on 150 for 5. In a low-scoring game, Saurashtra's lead is now a comfortable 247.

10.25am Madhya Pradesh take charge

Railways have slipped to 109 for 5, from their overnight 66 for 3, with one of their mainstays Sanjay Bangar dismissed cheaply. Madhya Pradesh had made 377 and look set for a first-innings lead.

10.20am Karnataka four down!

Kanishkaa is watching the procession at Chinnaswamy:

"Ganesh Satish lbw b Narwal 0 (5b) FOW 167 for 4 in 39.5 ov If things can’t get any worse for Karnataka, they have now lost three wickets for no runs! Narwal bowls from the Pavilion End, the ball keeps a bit low, Satish plays across the line and plumb in front. Narwal doesn’t even bother looking back at the umpire. Stuart Binny joins Pandey."

10.10am More trouble for Karnataka

KL Rahul c Bisht b Narwal 73 (96b) 13 fours FOW 167 for 2 in 37.6 ov Bad news for all you Karnataka fans because they have lost two in two! A lovely catch by Bisht to begin with to get rid of the promising KL Rahul. Narwal replaced Nehra at the Pavilion End and got a wicket off the last ball of the over. Pitched up and edged on the drive, Bisht takes a good catch diving low to his right. It was headed towards first slip. Awana then trapped Kunal Kapoor lbw playing all around it. Karnataka effectively 101 for 3. Ganesh Sathish and Manish Pandey at the crease. Kunal Kapoor lbw b Awana 6 (16b) FOW 167 for 3 in 38.1 ov.

10.00am And the other man to get his first Test call-up was Ravindra Jadeja. What did he have to say?

"When I started playing cricket, I was told that Test cricket was real cricket and it was my desire to play Test cricket. I have proved my ability to stay on wicket for a long time, which is necessary while playing Test cricket, and I was hoping after making two triple centuries I would be selected for Test cricket."

9.50am Delhi fast bowler Parvinder Awana got his first Test call-up yesterday. Here's what he said:

"I've learnt that just pace isn't enough, that line and length is also important," he said. "My deliveries cut in naturally. In India, we mostly get flat wickets. So I don't think about what kind of pitch I get, I concentrate on bowling well through the air. I've been playing for Delhi, and I've learnt a lot from my seniors, Ashish bhai [Nehra], Ishant [Sharma], Viru bhai [Sehwag]. I've also learnt a lot from the IPL."
