Rizwan Sattar, playing for Lamma and Pakiatan Association this season scored two centuries and claimed five wickets in an impressive weekend's work. He efforts took his teams to comfortanble victories in their respective leagues. Luke Rewega and Khalid Khan also claimed five wickets apiece in Sunday League action.
2005-06 HKCA Saturday League
The latest round of matches, played in warm but hazy conditions on 15th October, saw a number of one-sided results.
Lamma scored an impressive 106 run victory over Nomads in a match played at Mission Road. Batting first, Lamma amassed 248-6 in their 35 overs with Rizwan Sattar hitting an even 100 and Mark Burns 53. In reply, Nomads were dismissed for 143 with Sattar claiming 5-18 to round off an excellent day's work.
At Kowloon Cricket Club, Saracens were in an equally dominatant mood as they walloped LSW Warriors by 8 wkts. Batting first on a reduced outfield as workman continued erecting the grandstands for next weekend's Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes tournament, the Warriors were restrictred to 171-9 from their 35 overs as Naeem Ashraf and Rahul Sharma claimed three wickets apiece. Tabarak Dar was the chief contributor for the Warriors with 84. Saracens had little trouble chasing down their target with Ashraf hitting an unbeaten 86 and skipper Dyutesh Chaudhuri scoring 47.
The same 8 wicket winning margin was achived by SubCont as they thrashed Witherers in a match played at the Hong Kong Cricket Club. Home ground advantage didn't help the Witherers as they were restricted to 141-9 with Bruce Borges and Vipul Agarwal collecting three wickets each. Rahul Sambhus hit an unbeaten 75 as SubCont cruised to victory in the 27th over.
Crusaders scored a seven wicket victory over the Hong Kong Under-19s at Po Kong Village Road. Manoj Cheruparambil and Mohanna Marzook each claimed three scalps as the boys were skittled for only 91. Crusaders only needed 15 overs to reach their target with skipper Anthony Barnet hitting an unbeaten 48.
In the second match at Po Kong Village Road, Centaurs scored a 54 run victory over MCC St George's. Imran Idress top scored with 45 as Centaurs reached 201-8 off their alotted 35 overs. In reply, Liaquat hit 64 as MCC St George's were dismissed for 147 in the 27th over with Ali Rafaqat and Chandrin Dissanayake grabbing three wickets each.
HKU remained on top of the Saturday League standings despite having a bye.
2005-06 HKCA Sunday League
The first full round of Sunday League matches saw Scorpions, Templars, Pakistan Association and LSW recording victories.
Former England international Phil DeFreitas claimed four wickets on his debut for Scorpions as they wrapped up a comfortable 6 wicket victory over Millennium at the Hong Kong Cricket Club. Batting first, Millennium were dismissed in the 32nd over for 140 with Luke Rewega (5-23) the chief destroyer. In reply, Scorpions romped to victory in the 29th over, with Mark Kratzmann finishing unbeaten on 66.
At Kowloon Cricket Club, Pakistan Assocaition scored an impressive victory over Infidels by 8 wickets. Ravi Sujanani (48) and Imran Farcy (41) were the main contributors for Infidels as they were dismissed for 204, with Khalid Khan claiming 5-47 and Ali Rafaqat 4-47. Rizwan Sattar continued on from his Saturday form by smashing 119 not out as Pakistan Association raced to victory in the 34th over. Butt Hussasin also finished on 58 not out.
Little Sai Wan claimed the biggest winning margin and the earliest finish of the day as they steam-rolled Optimists by nine wickets at Mission Road. Optimsits were skittled for a paltry 93 runs and LSW raced to victory in only 16 overs to ensure maximum points.
In the final match of the day, Templars scored a 54 run victory over Pakistan Association Green. Shakawat Ali top scored with 81 as Templars finished on 250-8 off their 50 overs. Saiket Sen calimed three wickets for Pakistan Association Green. Afzaal Haider and A Ali claimed four wickets each as Pakistan Association Green were dismissed for 196 in reply.
2005-06 HKCA Women's League
Ball dominated bat in a Womaen's League in a match between LSW and HKCC Willow Wielders played at the PKVR ground. Batting first, LSW could only muster 53 runs from 20 overs batting. Godiva was the best of the HKCC bowlers as she claimed three wickets for 29 runs from her seven overs. The HKCC batters made hard work of their chase as they struggled against the bowling of Chathu, who claimed five wickets for 24 runs from eight overs. HKCC Willow Wielders reached their target in the 18th over for the lose of seven wickets.
