Karachi, Sept 15: Uncapped rookie fast bowler Shabbir Ahmad was
released to accommodate Wasim Akram in the three-match one-day
international series against the West Indies starting at Toronto
from Thursday.
The competent authorities in Pakistan were unaware of the
development, but team sources said from Toronto that the
reinstated Pakistan captain would replace Shabbir.
"It has not been decided whether to fly Shabbir back or not.
However, there are chances that he would be retained with the
team since it was a very short tour," sources said.
