Vikram Solanki followed his 94 in the opening match on Saturday with another half century as England A cruised to a 66-run victory over UAE in the second one-dayer at Sharhjah. England rattled up 280 for 8 and then bowled UAE out for 214.
Man-of-the-Match Matt Prior (84) and Solanki (55) laid the platform for the win with an opening stand of 100, Solanki attacking from the off in a 54-ball innings which included 10 fours and a six. The arrival of Ian Bell slowed things down, but Prior continued to press on, aided by cameos from Owais Shah (19) and Michael Powell (46). Prior's 87-ball innings was ended by Usman Saleem - who took 3 for 54 - but England's tail pressed well in the dying overs.
UAE made a poor start when in the third over David Harrison had Rashid Khan caught by Alex Gidman for 0, and Harrison followed up by having Amjad Javed caught by Prior for 6.
Usman Saleem (50) and Khuram Khan (41) took the score to 122 for 3 before Solanki dismissed Saleem courtesy of a run out, and when Khan fell immediately after, England were in the box seat. Thereafter, the asking rate was always way out of UAE's range and England completed a straightforward win.
