Karachi, July 30: Pakistan Under-15 made a shaky start to their World
Challenge campaign when they suffered a 41-run defeat at the hands of
South Africa at Wellington College ground on Sunday, according to
information available on website.
Pakistan, who were the losing finalists to India in 1996, did well to
restrict the South Africans to 205. But their batsmen faltered like
their seniors to be dismissed for 164 with five overs to spare.
Shahid Yousuf's 50 runs from 72 balls and void of any boundary was the
only highlight of Pakistan's batting which spun out against the offspinners of K.Africa who finished with four for 32 from his quota of
10 overs.
Pakistan's innings included just three boundaries with two coming from
the wood of Subtain Raza (17) and one from opener Mohammad Fahim.
Put into bat, South Africa managed 205 before being dismissed off the
last ball. Spinner Azhar Ali was easily the best bowler of the match
with figures of 10-3-38-3.
South Africans were rescued by a 72-run fourth wicket stand between
D.van Wyk (50) and V.van Jaarsveld (38). Africa made a useful
contribution of 46 from 68 balls to win Man-of-the-Match award.
