New Zealand allrounder Jacob Oram has been ruled of the remainder of the limited-overs games against South Africa due to a calf injury. Oram will miss the third and final Twenty20 in Auckland and the three ODIs.
Oram injured his left calf during the final ODI against Zimbabwe in Napier recently. New Zealand Cricket physiotherapist Paul Close said, although it was a relatively minor calf injury, the congested nature of the series meant that Oram didn't have sufficient recovery time.
"It's hugely disappointing to miss playing against South Africa. I felt pretty good in the matches against Zimbabwe and was looking forward to the series," Oram said. "I hate missing matches for New Zealand but I'm confident I can return to cricket injury-free following a course of rehabilitation. I hope to be back playing in about a fortnight."
Oram, who retired from Tests in 2009, will target the limited-overs leg of the West Indies tour in June for a comeback.
