At Port Elizabeth, January 27, 2008. South Africa won by seven wickets. Toss: West Indies. One- day international debut: P. A. Browne.
Kallis crafted an unbeaten 121, his 16th one-day international century, to seal victory in the series with a win so straightforward that nobody would have shed a bead of sweat had the temperature not reached 34°C. Chattergoon made a solid if slightly ponderous half-century on a perfect batting wicket to lay the foundations for a big West Indian score, and Samuels made the most of a bizarre let-off at 37, when the third umpire Brian Jerling, having been asked to adjudicate on whether a caught-behind was a bump-ball, ruled that the batsman hadn't actually hit it (most others who saw the replays were convinced he had). Samuels nonetheless merited a century after a ferocious onslaught in the final overs, but he was denied by a tremendous boundary catch by Duminy off the last ball of the innings. Smith once again gave his team a flying start, with 56 from 65 balls, but Kallis and Duminy were allowed to take singles with ridiculous ease.
Man of the Match: J. H. Kallis.
