Sri Lanka women's cricketers, making their final preparations for the
six-match one day series against their Dutch counterparts, are being
coached by former Sri Lanka wicket keeper batsman Guy de Alwis.
Vanessa Bowen, Sri lanka's captain at the 1997 Women's World Cup,
returns to the squad after missing the recent tour due to her
marriage.
Their Pakistan tour in mid-April has also been confirmed and the team
is due to leave for Lahore to play in a series of one day
internationals and a four-day women's Test against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka women's team scheduled tour of Bangladesh later this year
is yet to be confirmed but the WCASL President Gwen Herat is
confident that it will be confirmed soon and is determined to give
maximum exposure to local women cricketers before the year 2000 World
Cup in New Zealand.
The six-match series between Sri Lanka and their Dutch counterparts
will be played on March 21 (Premadasa Stadium), 22 (SSC grounds), 25
(De Zoysa Stadium), 27 (venue to be named), 29 (Premadasa Stadium -
day/night) and 30 (Premadasa Stadium).
