Northerns Titans and KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins go into the final round of the Standard Bank Cup knowing that they are the only two teams to have reached the semi-final stage. Both teams will however go all out to secure the top two places giving them the choice of venues in the best of three semi-finals.
Western Province and Eastern Province, who have completed their schedules, will sit on tender hooks with calculators at the ready, waiting for the outcome of the Border vs Boland and Easterns vs Free State matches. A win by either Border or Easterns will see Western Province fall by the wayside, while a win by both could see Eastern Province suffer the same fate.
Tonight also sees the return of some of the national players turning out for their respective provinces. Border has included both Mark Boucher and Makhaya Ntini while KwaZulu-Natal has included Shaun Pollock in their squad. Alan Donald who needs the time in the middle and Boeta Dippenaar could also be turning out for Free State in Benoni.
With the competition all but over, three of the top five run scorers will be in action, Pieter Koortzen 494, Doug Watson 421, and Mike Rindel 368. On the bowling side Andre Nel 20, Gideon Kruis 19, John Kent 17 and Garth Roe 17 will all be out to claim the top wicket taker spot currently held by Alan Dawson 21.
