Johnnie Walker, the world's number one Scotch Whisky, is delighted to
present the Johnnie Walker Super Series. The event will showcase the
world's best cricket players taking on the Australian team in three
one-day matches, and a six-day Super Test, in Australia this October.
Following the announcement of the World XI squads earlier this month, it
has been reported that the Pakistan Cricket Board have informed the
International Cricket Council (ICC) that any of their players selected
in the World XI will not wear or promote the Johnnie Walker logo, in
accordance with their religious beliefs.
Johnnie Walker is a truly global brand, and understands, respects and
supports any player requesting not to wear an alcohol brand logo for
religious reasons.
This understanding of cultural differences, and Johnnie Walker's
commitment to responsible drinking were key considerations when framing
this sponsorship. The contract with the International Cricket Council
for the naming rights to the Super Series allows for players to choose
not to wear the Johnnie Walker logo due to their religious beliefs.
Alternative playing strips without logos have already been developed.
Johnnie Walker represents the ideals of personal progress, so has chosen
to get involved in the Super Series to showcase the finest cricketers in
the world, facing the greatest challenge in their careers. It promises
to be one of the great sporting events of 2005.
Mark the moment responsibly.
