Vaas my number one choice says Terry

Paul Terry, Hampshire Cricket team manager confirmed that Chaminda Vaas the Sri Lankan left arm seamer was his number one choice as replacement for Wasim Akram.

"We have had talks with three overseas players, but Chaminda was my number one choice" said Terry.

Vaas who is currently in Colombo has been talking through his agent, and will decide on the move within the next 48 hours.

In the meantime Hampshire who are quite optomistic have sent a request to the Sri Lanka Cricket Board for permission to release him for the rest of the English season.
