Warne clearance still awaited

Hampshire are still awaiting news from the Australian Cricket Board officials, after they confirmed they have still not heard about the clearance required for Shane Warne to play next summer.

Club Chairman Brian Ford confirmed that the ACB have yet to give the necessary OK. However, Hampshire are not yet panicking. With Australia still involved in a current tour in Sri Lanka, it is felt that a decision may have to wait until their return to Australia. Ford said: "Part of the problem is that we don't know where the executive of the ACB is at this time, neither do we know the mechanics for the decision making, or whether it has to go before various committees."
