KIMBERLEY - The West Indies get their first taste of four-day
cricket today when they oppose Griqualand West.
Brian Lara's men had their first game of the tour on Wednesday
washed out after 48 overs when they played against a Guateng XI
in a one-day fixture in Soweto.
Former South African captain Kepler Wessels, who leads the
Griquas side, has been ruled out with a knee injury sustained
during the Supersport Series match against KwaZulu-Natal's
Dolphins.
The Windies will also be spared an onslaught from Barbadian pace
bowler Ottis Gibson, who, as an overseas professional, cannot
play against touring teams.
Griqualand West squad: Mickey Arthur (captain), Martyn Gidley,
Pieter Barnard, Willie Dry, Loots Bosman, Wendell Bossenger, Pat
Symcox, Deon Kruis, Garth Roe, Adri Swanepoel, Finley Broeker, Andre
Botha, Zahir Abrahim.
In other tour news, all-rounder Lance Klusener now seems certain
to miss at least the first Test against the West Indies at the
Wanderers on November 26.
