Ryan Hinds, the West Indies and Barbados batsman, appeared in court in Bridgetown to face charges of rape and has been released on bail. He will reappear in court on July 5, Stabroek News reported.
Hinds, 31, has been accused of committing the crime against a 28-year-old woman in February. He appeared before Magistrate Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell in the District "B" Magistrate's Court and was granted $7500 bail with a surety. He was asked to surrender his passport and appear at the Holetown police station once a week.
Hinds played 15 Tests and 14 ODIs for West Indies but hasn't represented them since July 2009. He has been playing for Barbados regularly, though, and featured in their first-class match against Guyana in March 2012.
