Winner of Pakistan v India finale will be 'officialy' better team

The winner of the final match of the enthralling Pakistan v India One-Day International (ODI) series will officially be recognised as the better of the two sides in the ICC ODI Championship table.

After four matches of the historic five-match series in Pakistan the sides are locked all square at 2-2. In the official ODI standings Pakistan's rating of 107 is currently one higher than India's 106.

If India wins in Lahore on Wednesday it will not only claim the series but also overtake Pakistan in the ICC ODI table as its rating will increase to 107 while Pakistan's will fall to 106. This would leave India fifth in the official table and Pakistan in sixth.

On the other hand, if Pakistan can make home advantage count in the day/night match it will hold on to fifth place with an improved rating of 108 while India will be in seventh place behind England with a rating of 105.

A tied final match will leave Pakistan with a one-point lead over India.
