Australia v Pakistan, 2016-17

Wisden's review of the fourth ODI, Australia v Pakistan, 2016-17

15-Apr-2017
At Sydney, January 22, 2017 (day/night). Australia won by 86 runs. Toss: Australia.
Warner peppered the off-side boundary on his home ground once again, hitting a masterful hundred to set up a series-clinching win. He notched 50 inside 13 overs, dominating an opening stand of 92 with Khawaja, then put on 120 with Smith, who was dropped on 11 at gully by a sluggish Sharjeel Khan, part of a dreadful fielding display by Pakistan. Hasan Ali removed both in the 36th over, and went on to a maiden five-for, the only one of the series. But Head and Maxwell, mixing power with innovation, zoomed to half-centuries, and piled on 100 in 11 overs; both were dropped by rattled fielders, and Australia finished with their highest score against Pakistan, for a few days at least. Sharjeel's response was welcome viewing, blasting 74 from 47 balls, before being enticed to take on Zampa to the longer side of the ground. No one else could threaten the required rate.
Man of the Match: D. A. Warner.
