Pakistan v England, 2015-16

Wisden's review of the second Twenty20 International, Pakistan v England, 2015-16

15-Apr-2016
At Dubai, November 27, 2015 (floodlit). England won by three runs. Toss: England.England clinched the series when Woakes held his nerve with the last ball, which Anwar Ali needed to hit for four. But he failed to connect with a yorker outside off stump, ensuring that Pakistan's late surge, inspired by Shahid Afridi, proved in vain.
The frantic final stages were a test for Buttler, captaining England - and indeed any senior side - for the first time while Eoin Morgans at out; Buttler reclaimed the gloves from Billings. When Afridi came in, Pakistan were 120 for six following a tidy spell from Rashid, and still required 53 from 20 balls. But, in front of an adoring full house, he blasted Woakes for three sixes in five deliveries - the third of them a no-ball on height -during the 18th over, only to fall to the sixth, slicing to short third man. Pakistan wanted 11 from the last over and, though Sohail Tanvir swung the second ball through square leg for four, Woakes proved equal to the task. Vince had top-scored for England with a fluent 38 from 24 balls, before becoming one of three victims for Afridi. But Buttler hit three sixes to propel them to a total that, in the end, was just enough.
