The women's Challenger Series has been postponed by over a week because of heavy rains in Ahmedabad. Scheduled to start on Sunday, the tournament will now be played from October 2 to 5 at the same venue.
The season-opening Challenger Trophy features three teams and includes probables for the Australia tour next month. However three international players - Mithali Raj, Jaya Sharma and Neetu David - were rested because of assorted injuries.
Now that the tournament has been postponed it is uncertain whether the three will be included if they recover in time. Raj, the Indian captain, said the matter would be clear only in a few days. "The physios at the National Cricket Academy are monitoring our condition and will have to inform the selectors of the same," she told Cricinfo. "Then it is up to the selectors to pick us. Anyway I will be keenly following the tournament to keep a lookout for upcoming players."
