Yorkshire express Broad interest

Yorkshire are the latest county to throw their hat in the ring for Stuart Broad's signature.

Broad's contract with Leicestershire expires at the end of the season and while the county hope that he won't chase the money elsewhere, interest is growing - with four counties having expressed an interest. Warwickshire, Lancashire and Nottinghamshire are all understood to be keen.

Martyn Moxon, Yorkshire's director of cricket, confirmed that talks had already taken place. "There is no guarantee at this stage that he will join us and we have only had initial talks," he told the Northern Echo newspaper. "In the next three or four years I would expect him to be pretty much involved with Test and one-day international cricket but, at the same time, when a player of Broad's ability becomes available you have to show an interest.

Leicestershire's coach Tim Boon admitted recently that Broad could be tempted by the prospect of more money. "This is the right place for him and I'd be disappointed if he goes for money." It's not just money the other counties are offering - the four interested parties all offer a Test ground.

While Yorkshire, Warwickshire and Lancashire all currently offer First Division Championship cricket, it's Nottinghamshire - who could be promoted - who are the favourites for his services. They are his father Chris's previous county, and also located nearby.
