David Warner and Ryan Carters managed to belt 48 runs from the last over of the final to give Australia their first Hong Kong Sixes trophy on Sunday. Pakistan were on track to defend their total of 6 for 132 in five overs and needed to limit Australia to 46 from the last eight balls delivered by Imran Nazir.

Warner (35 off 11 balls) and Carters (31 off eight) stormed the team to a two-wicket victory. "It was amazing," Warner said. "We have that Australian passion when things are against us.

"It is one of those things - we needed 46 in that last over, but it is cricket and we knew we were always a chance if we backed ourselves. I was given the opportunity to come here and lead the side as well and I am just stoked for the boys, they have done so well." Glenn Maxwell, who scored 34 off 15 in the decider, was the player of the tournament.

sinc pakistan was going well in this tournament no news even they beat India the arch rival and South Africa.. with big margin no news.... every media just waiting that let Pakistan lost than come through and relax.... Why the cricinfo ICC ...and all others sports media are so partially... why they not want to appreciate and boost Pakistan.... this is the only team in the world ... when there is no charges on them and no grouping developed by PCB than hard to beat them. just recall the memories of 1992 world cup, banglore test under Imran Khan captaincy, Sharjah cup Javed Miandad evergreen sixer, and what about the Lahore Badshah team under Inzimam captaincy......etc etc.....PLEASE SAFE CRICKET AND PLEASE DONT HIGHLIGHTED ONLY PAKISTAN..... let us play a good cricket with massive varieties......... whole the cricket players of the world knows about it.

the way that he gave away those easy runs makes me suspicious ...... very very suspicious ..... odds were heavily in favor of Pakistan. Imran Nazir put it in a platter all by himself.

Aus shouldnt have been in the finals.. A clear leg side wide was not given in the semis when the Lankans needed 8 to win of 2 balls!! (last ball went for a 6!!)..

  • on November 8, 2010, 7:03 GMT

Aus needed 44 off the last (8-ball) over but Imran Nazir bowled 12 wides and 9 no-balls, thus giving away 21 without a legal delivery. Aus needed to score 23 off 8 deliveries which they did with one ball to spare!

I smell something very very fishy here. Such a thing is unheard of even in "gali" cricket ... how come it happened in the final of an international tournament?

Unless Warner hit 8 sixes, am sure the extras mustve helped them. It was sad how Warner was behaving during the Pak innings when his bowlers were getting spanked all over the park. Full credit to the batsman who scored 90+ (sorry, forgot his name) - he gave it back to that thug in words and sixes!

@ Australian: you played against the spirit of cricket.. Shame on you... get run-outs intentionally...

lol, no one belted anything, imran nazir bowled the last over (it was 8 balls per over) and he gave away atleast 15 runs in wides and no balls). in total he bowled like 12-13 deliveries
